He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Mitchell; his parents, John Whipple Mitchell and Lizzie Hobby Mitchell; his siblings, Jeffie Mae Bassett, Vera Lucille Mitchell, J. W. Mitchell, Roger Mitchell and Ray Mitchell; and his grandson Hunter Kirkpatrick.
He is survived by: his sisters, Florene Privette of Cordele, GA, Ruby Bowermiester of Moultrie, GA and Frances Lupton of Loganville, GA; his children, Donna Cardwell of Brentwood, TN, Carole Kirkpatrick of Fayetteville, PA, Mitch Mitchell of Knoxville, TN and John Mitchell of Birmingham, AL; and his grandchildren, Ashley Williams of Jefferson City, TN, Christian Cardwell of Birmingham, AL, Luke Cardwell of Brentwood, TN, Trey Mitchell of Knoxville, TN, Elizabeth Mitchell of Knoxville, TN, Mykayla Mitchell of Birmingham, AL and Doris Mitchell.
