He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Shearer and Betty Seifert Shearer. He is survived by: his wife Betty Shearer of Taft; his children, Russell Shearer (Tina) of Peoria, IL, Christopher Stevens (Lesia) of Taft and Dawn Tibbals (Tim) of Knoxville; and his sisters, Dorothy Merriman and Karen Arnold. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
