It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joyce Barnes Gilbert of Sweetwater, Tennessee, born in Harlan, Kentucky, who passed away on January 1, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Charles Gilbert; her parents, Arthur Barnes and Merthell Barnes; her grandchildren, Chad Huskey and Amber Smoak; and her sisters, Evelyn, Kelly Martin, Polly and Glenn Guthrie.
She is survived by: her children, Lisa Thurmond (Ron) of Monroe, Suzie Graves (Jamie) of Etowah and Chuck Gilbert (Nora) of Philadelphia, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Christopher Thurmond, Angela Thurmond, Chase Gilbert, Cole Gilbert and Randy Collins; her great grandchild Jocelyn Gilbert; her sister Barbara Napier (Bobby); her nieces, Lynda Lloyd and Debbie Padgett; and her daughters, Von Steele and Kellie Middleton. She is also survived by loving friends, neighbors.
