He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis W. Thompson and Eleanor Howell Thompson; and his brothers, Carl Howell "Pete" Thompson, Joseph Ronnie Thompson and James R. Thompson.
He is survived by: his daughter Tammy Garcia; his son-in-law Armando Garcia; his grandchildren, Jordan of Canton, Jacob of Canton and Joseph Garcia of Canton; his sister Zetta Ann Thompson of Knoxville; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Thompson of Sweetwater and Helen Thompson of Sweetwater. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
