He was predeceased by: his parents, Rufus D. Thompson and Rubye Scales Thompson; his brother Rufus Preston Thompson; his nephew Derondo Logan; and his brother-in-law Lonnie Jones Jr..
He is survived by: his sisters, Molly Cannady (Jimmy) of Sweetwater, TN and Judy Thompson Jones of Knoxville, TN; his nieces and nephews, Carmen Hall, Rachel, Felicia Cannady, Christopher Jones (Ranie) of Gallatin, TN, Rev. Nicholas Jones (Ciarra) of Lenior City, James of Sweetwater, TN., Dominic of Sweetwater, TN. and Christopher Cannady of Sweetwater, TN.; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Weston Jones, Ivan Hall McZee, Destiny Oggs, Angel Hooker and Maranda Cantrell (Arthur).
Visitation was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Chapel of M. D. Dotson and Sons Funeral Home – Athens (502 Congress Pkwy N, Athens, TN 37303). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
