He was predeceased by: his parents, William Harper "Harp" and Captolia "Cap" Hazel Horne Bass; and his siblings, Virginia Noe, Ruby Carroll Mooney and William "Bill" Harper Bass, Jr..

He is survived by: his children, Susan Dykes (Terry) of Rogersville, Jennifer McAmis (Myron) of Greeneville and Johnny Bass (Rita) of Morristown; his granddaughters, Alisha Montgomery (Jason), Allison Dykes and Mattie McAmis; his sister Dorothy Housewright Cunningham of Church Hill; his great grandchild Avery Montgomery; and his brother Ralph Bass of Columbia, SC. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
