He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Jackson, Sr. and Bertha Mae Shanks; his wife Jean Marie Shanks (Lawson); his children, Philip Andrew Shanks and Teresa Leigh Couch; and his siblings, Bob Shanks, Abner Shanks and Ann McCoy.
He is survived by: his children, Pamela Patricia (John Thomas White) of Gary, TN, Sheila Gay (Kenneth Pelfrey) of Surgoinsville, TN, Melissa Dawn (Michael Allen) of Surgoinsville and Michael Andrew Shanks (Patti) of Rogersville, TN; his daughter-in-law Barbara Shanks of Surgoinsville, TN; his sisters, Mary Ferrell and Dorothy McCoy; and his pet Callie. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his loyal.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 8th 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Christian-Sells Funeral Home (1520 E Main St, Rogersville, TN 37857). A funeral service was held on Sunday, December 8th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Highland Cemetery (899 E Main St, Rogersville, TN 37857).
