He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Whittaker Hite and Francis Ely Hite; his wife Robin Theobald of Grayson, KY; and his son Ely Whittaker Hite. He is survived by: his daughters, Gretchen Kaufmann (David) of Summertown, Strother Jett (Lee) of Charlotte and Sarah Whitt (Charlie) of Scottown; and his grandsons, Stephen Hite Whitt, John Kemper Jett, Thomas Bradford Hite and Philip Jarrett Childers.
