He was predeceased by: his parents, William John McSwain, Sr. and Artie Gass McSwain; his son Jeffrey McSwain; his granddaughter Kari Leeann Fowler; and his siblings, Claude, Gary, Harold McSwain, Franklee McSwain, Ruby Hatmaker, Hazel Hines Cardwell, Joann Trent and Betty Sharp.
He is survived by: his wife Alice F. "Peggy" McSwain; his children, William John McSwain III (Christina), Karen Garrison and Donna Fowler; his daughter-in-law Angela McSwain; and his sisters, Yvonne Heath and Faye Heuerman. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren. he family will receive friends.
