He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert C. Cox, Sr. and Elizabeth L. Cox; and his brother Michael T. Cox. He is survived by: his brothers, William L. Cox of Knoxville and Patrick B. Cox, Sr. (Jo Ann); his nephew Patrick B. Cox, Jr. (Daysie); his niece Elizabeth A. Cox of Mount Carmel; his aunts, Rosemary Mixon and Charlotte Cox of Knoxville; and his close friends, Joe Roberts (Carol) and Sonny Foster (Debbie).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the National Kidney Foundation, kidney.org or the American Kidney Fund, kidneyfund.org.
