James Wayne Maples Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Wayne Maples in Strawberry Plains, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 23, 2025 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though James Wayne may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those James Wayne touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Maples and Ethel Maples; his former wife June Estelle Curnutt; his wife Elsie Pauline Maples; and his close friend Buddy. He is also survived by his stepchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Evergreen Funeral Home (7426 Asheville Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37924). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 30th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Pollard Cemetery (3770 Pollard Cemetery Rd, Kodak, TN 37764).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
