He was predeceased by: his former wife Marilyn Argo Stephens; his wife Joy Dortch Stephens; his stepmother Novella Stephens; his daughter-in-law Carolyn Stephens; his siblings, Colleen Weatherford (James), Betty Jean Bivens (Charlie) and Whayne Byassee; and his granddaughter Renee Bough.
He is survived by: his children, Jan Mathis (Dwayne) of Paris, TN, Scott Stephens (Pam) of Springville, TN, Greg Stephens (Pam) of Springville, TN and Mike Stephens of Rogers, AR; his stepdaughters, Phyllis Rauchle (Mike) of Union City, TN and Sherry Merritt (John David) of Columbia, TN; his sister-in-law Linda Byassee of Union City, TN; and his grandchildren, Alisha McMasters (Justin), Eric Stephens (Jamie), Ashleigh Miller (Michael), Natalie McMasters (Travis), Christy DeHay (Toby), Holley Mason (Michael), Barry Mathis (Jessica), Nikki Diacon (Johnnie) and Kimberly Stephens. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ridgeway Funeral Home (201 Dunlap St, Paris, TN 38242). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
