He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Edgar and Frances Wheeler Rains; his sister Carolyn Rains Stephens; and his great grandchild Leah Morgan Grace Boll. He is survived by: his son James Landis; his daughter-in-law Jessica Rains, Jr. of Scottsboro, AL; his daughter Mary "Chris" Smith of Springfield; his brother Gilbert Rains of Murfreesboro; and his grandchildren, Cindy S. Rains, Lola A. Rains, James Landis "Lance" Rains, III, Kyle Boll, Rachel Boll, Stephen Smith and Michael Smith.
