He was predeceased by: his parents, George "Henry" and Edna Tidwell Akins; his daughters, Darlene Akins and Donna Akins Neighbors; and his brothers, G. H., Oscar, Leslie and Jimmy Akins.
He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Akins; his son James Henry Akins; his siblings, Ernest Akins and Joyce Houchin (Kenny); his grandchildren, Karen Fitts Sloan, Dayna Claiborne, Brandon Claiborne, B. J. Neighbors, Brent Neighbors and Melody Hopper (Justin); his great grandchildren, Garret Sloan, Tanner Sloan, Tyler Jeanette, Wyatt, Cory and Maggie; and his close friends, Pam and Krista Binkley. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews & loving friends.
