He was predeceased by: his parents, Ester Whitaker and Elvie Mae Whitaker; his wife Shirley Whitaker; his brother Paul Whitaker; and his stepsister Shirley Whitaker.
He is survived by: his children, David Lynn Whitaker (Stephanie), Trish Taylor (Jeff) and Tammy Shockney (Lee); his grandchildren, Brad, Ashley, Sami, Trista, Chase and Cassie; and his brother Jimmy Whitaker (Brenda Sue). He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren.
