He was predeceased by: his father Paul Northern; and his grandparents, Lark Northern (Fay) and Herbert Moore (Eva). He is survived by: his wife Hylan; his mother Jean Northern; his sister Vicki Scott (Alan); his children, Josh Northern and Julie DeHaan (Chad); and his grandsons, Cason DeHaan and Hudson Northern. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
