He was predeceased by: his parents, Jerome Belfer and Ida Karnovitz Belfer; and his brother Bernie Belfer. He is survived by: his wife Shari Hermelin Belfer; his sons, Rick Belfer and Michael Belfer (Adriana); his grandchildren, Zack Belfer (Tori), Brandon Belfer (Tori), Michael Belfer, Jr and Miriam Belfer; and his great grandchild Isaiah Dillard.

I came to love Mel as a brother for 4 reasons; Mel dearly loved Yeshua, his wife and children… and movies. Our shared love for old movies was our ongoing pastime.
