He was predeceased by: his parents, Alonzo C Patterson Sr. and Lyda Elouise Patterson; his son Johnny Bryan Patterson Jr.; his grandsons, Cameron Patterson and Jess Patterson; and his siblings, Alonzo "Pat" Patterson, Jr., Elouise and Tassin.

He is survived by: his former wife Bette Jewel Goad; his wife Barbara Jean Hines; his children, Michael Patterson, Shelley Wilcox, Tami Keith (Jeff), Ricky Patterson (Marian), Jimmy Patterson, Randy Patterson (Tracy), Larry Patterson (Bobby Patterson) and Jeanne Lynn Basso (John); his mother-in-law Maxine Hines; and his brothers, Maurice Patterson and Joel Patterson. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends.
