We are sad to announce that on April 28, 2023, at the age of 78, Sandra Speciale-Podbielski of Spring City, Tennessee, born in Harrisonburg, Virginia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, William Robert and Ruth Louise Layman "Granny" Purcell; her sisters, Katherine "Kitty" Ellis and Theresa Ann Purcell; and her grandsons, Nicolas Speciale and Chase Thompson.
She is survived by: her husband Mark Podbielski; her sons, Stephen Speciale (Tammy) of Spring City, TN, Ben Speciale (Kim) of Kennesaw, GA and Joe Speciale (Kelly) of Spring City, TN; her stepdaughter Heather Thompson (Jeremy) of Spring City, TN; her brother Billy Purcell (Patty) of Ruckersville, VA; her grandchildren, Jeremy, Stephen Speciale, Natalie, Abigail Speciale, Hannah Bice (Barrett), Lauren Speciale and Chandler Thompson (Danielle); her great grandchild Owen Thompson; her caregivers, Renee Argo and Pat Stapleton; and also Chase. She is also survived by many other close friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks to support a memorial fund to supply TWRA officers with free kids' life jackets to promote safe boating and carry on Sandy's legacy: a "Pinky Promise" to wear a life jacket.
