He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Lowe and Charlie Smith; his brother Leroy Smith; and his daughter Penny Smith. He is survived by: his wife Grace Jones Smith of Spring City, TN; his son Christopher Pearce; and his siblings, Shirley Newhart, Wendy Jackson, Ruby Smith of Ft. Wayne, IN, Willie Smith of Ft. Wayne, IN and Robert "Bobby" Smith of Ft. Wayne, IN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
