He was predeceased by: his wife Ida Madewell Hillis; and his sister Glenna Kay Dean. He is survived by: his daughters, Tammie Clendenon (Ronnie) and Jeanne Ottinger (Les); his siblings, Stanley Hillis (Faye Huddleston), Douglas Hillis (Bonnie), James Hugh Hillis (Charlotte), Marty Hillis (Zeda), Norma Sue Grissom and Sharon Shockley; his grandchildren, Meleah Carlyle (Trevor), Hayden Ottinger (Ashley), Cameron Clendenon (Morgan) and Hannah Lane (Trey); and his great grandchild Barrett Clendenon.
