She was predeceased by: her parents, J. D. Baker and Emma Mills Baker; her husband Ansel Dean Simmons; her brothers, James Baker, Charles Baker and Ben Baker; and her son-in-law Lynn Yates.
She is survived by: her daughters, Diane Morton (Freddie), Sandra Shockley (Tommy McCoy), Denise Yates, Kathy Howard (John), Peggy Lee (Marty) and Brenda Hickerson (Jimmy); and her grandchildren, Clay Morton, Sheri Garrett (Todd), James Dean Shockley, Angie Shockley, Casey Shockley (Vanessa), Chris Yates, Beth Oakes, David Lee, Dylan Lee, Lachelle Lee, Miranda Roberts (Cody), Bryan Hickerson (Sarah), Brent Hickerson (Ashley), Kim Primus (Tommy), Jimmy Hickerson (Jennifer) and Michelle Gattis (Stacy).
