He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Ann Anderson and Edgar Bomar Sherrill; his wife Patsy; his daughter Angie Smith (Danny); his grandchildren, Erica Leigh Smith and Daniel Gray Smith; his nieces and nephews, Marsha Raulston (Marge Boric), Melanie Gill (Jim), Vivi Thakker (Jivan), Tommy Anderson, Alan Anderson (Denise) and Bobby Ambrester (Terry); his sister Earlyne Sherrill Anderson; his niece Brenda Anderson Agnew; and his siblings-in-law, Ginna Raulston (Jack), Peggy Gouge (Perry) and Billy Ambrester (Bonnie).
