She was predeceased by: her parents, Clifford Thompson, and Mable Thompson, Sr.; her husband Gerald Wayne Byard; and her brother Clifford Paul Thompson, Jr.. She is survived by: her sister Cathy Philpot (Major); her nephew Patrick Shane Philpot (Stephanie); her great-nieces and great-nephews, Weston, Lindsay and Penelope; her nephew Jason Adam Philpot (Bobbie Jo); and also Skyler.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
