He was predeceased by: his father Freddie Lee Grimes; his stepfather Robert "Buster" Jones; his mother Eva Jean Thomas; and his siblings, Richard "Bud" Grimes, Kenneth Gholston and Glenda Gholston.
He is survived by: his wife Hazel Grimes; his daughters, Stephanie Woody and Christy Grimes; his son-in-law David Woody; his grandson Jaxon Woody; his siblings, Ronald "Pete" Grimes, Randall Grimes, Patricia Welden and Bonnie Osborn; and his friend Herb Womac. He is also survived by aunts, sister in laws and nieces and nephews.
