He was predeceased by: his father Willard Thurman; and his siblings, Gerald, Larry Thurman and Jean Taylor. He is survived by: his significant other Dolores Thurman; his children, Chuck Thurman (Karen), Allen Thurman (Susan), David Thurman (Christy) and Kim Furrow (Lewis); and his brother Les Thurman of Texas. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and extended family.
