He is survived by: his wife Mereita Essex; his daughter Darlene Brown (Mike); his grandson Casey Thurman (Ashli); his great grandchildren, Preston and Peyton Thurman; and his close friend Shirley Roby. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and extended family.
