He is survived by: his children, Jason Purkey and Crystal Anderson; his grandchildren, Lindsey, Riley, Tanner and Remington; his close friend Terry Carroll (Sonny); his siblings, Jackie Lawson (Kay), Johnny Lawson (Darlene), Roger Lawson (Jamie), Jimmy Lawson (Pam), Judy Brewer (JB), Betty Fleenor, Opal Dillon (Ray), Vickie Brooks and Brenda Cox (Scott); and his aunt Joyce Royston (Leroy). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the McNeil Funeral Home (124 Church St, Sneedville, TN 37869). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the BIG Creek Missionary Baptist Church (803 Stanley Valley Rd, Rogersville, TN 37857).
