He was predeceased by: his wife Stella; his parents, Charles "Bud" Roberts and Mary Roberts; his parents-in-law, Everett and Roxie Trent; his siblings, Gene, Don, Cecil, Ruby, Betty and Gladys; and his grandchildren, Keith, Larry and Casey.
He is survived by: his sister Joyce Royston (Leroy); and his children, Sandra Fleenor of Sneedville, Joyce Silverman of Hagerstown, Terry Atkins (Billy) of Laurel, Denese Cook (Rick) of Laurel, Tommy Shaw (Lisa) of Rogersville and Lisa Johnson (Charles) of Mooresburg. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
