He was predeceased by: his father Baxter; his wife Lillian Elizabeth Gothard Rice; and his sister Mary Jane Windham. He is survived by: his children, James Ed Rice, Jr. (Jim Ed), Joe Marshall Rice (Norma), Trina Rice Graham, Tammy Rice Allen (Steve) and Terre Rice Puckett (Jason); his grandchildren, Lee Elizabeth Rice Stonestreet (Andrew), Andrea Austin Rice Davis (Bobby), James Ed Rice III (Jed), William Gregory Graham (Katie), Paul James Allen and Daniel Jason Puckett; his great grandchildren, Beckett and Ben Stonestreet; and his caregivers, Faye Neville, Tina Waggoner, Connie Linder and Marylin Mashburn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, First Baptist Church, or God's Pantry.
