He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Edwin Caplenor and Ruby Ray Caplenor (McDaniel). He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Suttle Caplenor; his daughters, Amy Catherine Liscomb (Todd) of Mountain Brook and Molly Rhea Caplenor; his grandchildren, Anniston Suttle Liscomb, Kathryn Grace Liscomb and William Jefferson Liscomb; his brother Jere Caplenor (Karen) of Lebanon, Tennessee; and his nephews, Ben Caplenor (Lea) and Nick Caplenor (Dorothy) of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He is also survived by three great nephews, one great niece, several cousins, many dear friends.
