He is survived by: his wife Mary Jane Brannon; his parents, John B. and Dessie Huston Spittler; his brother King Spittler; his son-in-law Bill Freutel; his children, MariJayne Freutel of Columbus, Cozette Mitchell of Signal Mountain, John Jr. and James; and his children-in-law, Macarena Spittler and Allen Mitchell. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
