Carolyn Mabee Wheeler Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Carolyn Mabee Wheeler of Signal Mountain, Tennessee, born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, who passed away on May 30, 2023 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her husband S. Kirk Wheeler; her parents, Erskine Brown and Margaret Patterson Mabee; her sisters, Catherine Weber and Peggy Cottam; and her son-in-law Mike Thomas.

She is survived by: her friends, Ontario, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Ankara and Cappadocia; her daughters, Sharon Wheeler of Montgomery, AL, Teresa Tinney (Greg) of Atlanta, GA and Pam Thomas of Hixson; her grandchildren, Sky Tinney of Atlanta, GA and Taylor York (Ethan) of Chattanooga; her siblings, Erskine Mabee (Ann) of Sale Creek, Niota, Richard Mabee (Shirley) of Signal Mountain and Elaine Mabee (Corey Crane) of East Ridge; and her brother-in-law Maurice Weber of Newburgh, IN.. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.

She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ and was 84 years and seven months old the evening she transitioned at a rehab facility in Montgomery, AL due to complications from pneumonia and COVID.

The family requests memorial donations be made to a cause most special to her, The S. Kirk Wheeler Library at Thrasher Elementary School (1301 James Blvd, Signal Mountain, TN 37377).
