He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence McGowan and Nina Hocamp McGowan. He is survived by: his wife Anna Jo McGowan; his children, Rick Bennett (Kathy) of Murfreesboro, Cheryl Colvin of Peoria, Roxanna Schlick of Chicago and Dianne Cook; and his siblings, Wayne McGowan of Shelbyville, Clarence McGowan, Jr. of Whitwell, Tennessee, Anthony McGowan of Whitwell, Tennessee, Don Edward "Butch" McGowan of Whitwell, Tennessee, Ricky McGowan of Whitwell, Tennessee, Annette McGowan White and Shelia McGowan of Whitwell, Tennessee. He is also survived by five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and eleven great-great grandchildren.
