He was predeceased by: his father Harold Leslie; and his brother Harold Leslie Kieffer, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Sherry Brown Kieffer; his stepchildren, Christy Gardner (Raymond) of Shelbyville, Nathan Howard and Jerimiah Jacobs of Decherd; and his brother James Richard Kieffer (Patricia) of Eagleville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
