He was predeceased by: his parent Gracie Alvin; his wife Wanda Jean Muse Jones; his son Oliver Clark "Sam" Jones; his grandson Robert Earl Jones, Jr.; and his sisters, Erma Jean Jones, Julie Ramsey, Lucille Harrell and Ellen Jones.
He is survived by: his sons, Alvin Thomas "Tommy" Jones (Linda) of Shelbyville and Robert Earl Jones (Susan) of Shelbyville; his grandchildren, BJ, Caleb, Samantha and Lydia; his stepgrandchildren, Dawn and Leslie; and his sister Linda Pearl Allen (David) of Shelbyville. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
