He was predeceased by: his parents, H. C. Hatfield and Mary London Hatfield; his children, Leonard Wayne Hatfield and Sara Patrice Hatfield; and his sister Ann Thurm.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Love Bowers Hatfield; and his daughters, Gwen Ward (Horace) of Shelbyville, Sharon Hatfield Johnson (William), Will, Lorna Hatfield Russell of Corpus Christi, Texas, Haley Hatfield (Lee Edwards) and Taylor Hatfield.
Jim would be honored with memorials to The Shriners Hospital, American Heart Association, or Bedford County Animal Shelter.
