He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil L. Hillis and Sarah Frances Reccord Hillis; his wife Mary Jo Hillis; his niece Suzanne HIllis; and his nephew Joshua Hillis.
He is survived by: his stepson Terry William Slack of Lakeland; and his siblings, Betty Freeman of Shelbyville, Louise Lee of Franklin Kentucky and Robert Lee Hillis (Teresa) of Shelbyville. He is also survived by two step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
