It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Rita Shofner of Shelbyville, Tennessee, born in Newport, Rhode Island, who passed away on January 4, 2024, at the age of 102, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Fredrick Goffe and Margaret Goffe (Sullivan); her husband Howard B. Shofner, Jr. (Buddy); her daughter Maureen Shofner Minch of Nashville; her niece Caroline Bidlack; her nephews, Jared McGowan and John Christopher Shofner of Shelbyville; and her sister Marion Goffe Bidlack (Mim) of Newport.
She is survived by: her children, Barbara Shofner Swain and Howard Bentley Shofner, III (Debbie); her nephews, Donald and Kenneth Bidlack of Newport, RI; and her grandchildren, Jena, Zach, Kyle Swain of Shelbyville, Allison Minch Singleton (Matthew) and Justin Minch of Nashville. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
