He was predeceased by: his father James Patrick; and his sister Joan Marie Collier Adcock. He is survived by: his wife Martha Ray Coop Collier; his daughters, Christy Smith (Keith) and Kelly Scott (Keith); his grandchildren, Bryan Smith (Haley), Ashley Smith and Blake Collier; and his great grandchild Jackson Smith.

“Homes of Hope of Bedford County lost a precious friend in James Collier. He and his family were such a blessing to me in 2015/2016 when I hosted a precious little 2-year-old boy in my home. James became his surrogate grandfather. He continued to invest in and value that relationship until his passing. All of our lives were forever changed and knit together through that little boy. James, Martha, Kelly, Keith, and I spent countless hours together at birthday parties and sporting events.”
