He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Ray and Flora Mae Trail Messick; his wife Barbara Jean Messick; and his brother Jerry Ray Messick. He is survived by: his daughter Barbara Ann Messick of Shelbyville; his stepdaughter Emma Jean Scott Pugh of Chapel Hill; his grandson William Timothy Scott Pugh; and his siblings, Donna Armstrong, Debra King, Roy Messick and Gary Messick. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
