He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Samuel and Alene Corder Gentry; and his brother Ralph E. Gentry. He is survived by: his brothers, Thomas S. Gentry (Gail) of Athens and David E. Gentry (Linda) of Danielsville; his nephew Tommy Neal; his niece Karen Gentry Neal (Tommy) of Shelbyville; and his sister-in-law Dorothy Gentry of Shelbyville. He is also survived by other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nephews.
