He was predeceased by: his father Sanford Lee; his grandparents, Samuel, Wattie Susan Rankin Bowling of Shady Valley, Tennessee, Noah Seaton and Flora Sheppard Gilland of Damascus, Virginia; and his son-in-law Daniel Jennings.
He is survived by: his wife Janet Bowers Bowling; his children, Michelle Bowling Jennings (Josh Howard) and Trey Bowling (Samantha); his grandchildren, Robert and Faith Bowling; his brother Fred Bowling (Margie); and his nephew Chopper Bowling. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
