He was predeceased by: his parents, James Jeff Lewis and Ruth Blevins Lewis; his siblings, Margie, Delma, Barbara, Byron, Philemon, Dewey, Ben and James; and his granddaughter Zoe Claire Lewis.

He is survived by: his wife Brenda Lewis; his sons, Jeff Lewis (Maggie) of Shady Valley, TN, John Spurgeon (Crystal) of Georgia and James Spurgeon (Kim) of Georgia; his grandchildren, Elijah, Izzy, Zane, Ezra, Colin Lewis, Luke and Toby Spurgeon; and his parents-in-law, Lowell Hutchinson, Lydia Lewis, Trishia Robinson (Jeff), Janey Lane (Jimmy) and Kathy Boggs. He is also survived by several step grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
