He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Walker Young and Agnes Jane Young; his siblings, Sammie Young and Billie Sue Sutherland; and his stepson Sonny Cook.
He is survived by: his wife Thelma Young; his stepdaughter Deborah Thompson; his siblings, Betsy Rose Michal and Bill Fred Young; and his daughter-in-law Kathy Cook. He is also survived by 5 grandsons, 6 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
