With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Elbert Webster Payne of Sewanee, Tennessee, who passed away on January 23, 2022 at the age of 78. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Taylor Payne and Delia Payne; his sister Gloria Jean; and his grandson Caleb Sutton (Kristy). He is survived by: his wife Billie Jean Payne of Sewanee, TN; his siblings, Norman Payne (Carolyn) of South Pittsburg, TN and Helen Taylor (James) of Monteagle, TN; his children, Karen White (Dennis) of Estill Springs, TN, Tammy Wilbanks of Trenton, TN, Kristy Grindstaff (Steven) of Candler, NC, Jeremy Payne (Shelley) of Guyton, GA and William Payne of Brooklet, GA; and his stepdaughters, Tabitha Lowery of Cookeville, TN and Samantha Howell of Dunlap, TN. He is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
