He was predeceased by: his parents, Cleve Lucas and Effie Lucas; his former wife Sarah Louise Lucas; his son Jackie; and his siblings, Robert Lucas, Albert Lucas, Estil Lucas, Sally Mae McClain, Peggy Kitchens, Olga James, Pat Self and Betty Scroggins.

He is survived by: his wife Margaret H. Lucas; his children, John Lucas, Jr. (Tammy) of Augusta, GA, Cleon Lucas of Gonzalez, LA, Kimberley Blitchington (Travis) of Augusta, GA, Stephen Lucas (Stephanie) of Columbia, SC, Christy Fredericks (Adrian) of Martinez, GA and Linda McFarland of Jacksonville, FL; his sister Lexie Ellis of Metter, GA; his stepchildren, Brenda Davis, Patricia Browning, Gwen Sloan and Robbie Hatfield; and his grandchildren, Jeffery Lucas, Joshua Lucas, Jonathan Lucas, Justin Upton, Jordan Lucas, Logan Peck and Evan Peck. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
