It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rachel Evalee Cates of Sequatchie, Tennessee, who passed away on February 25, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Gilbert Dove and Mary Jo Roberts; her husband James Merrill Cates; her sister Minnie King; her granddaughter Heather Sands; and her nephews, Bruce King and Kenneth King.
She is survived by: her daughters, Vicky McNabb (Darwin Henderson), Martha Hale and Maggie Avans (Herman); her grandchildren, Jeconiah McNabb and Riley Avans; her great grandchildren, Garrett McNabb and Ryan McNabb; her nephew Alvin King; and her nieces, Birdie King and Mary King.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 26th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, February 27th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Tate Funeral Home (950 Mel Dixon Ln, Jasper, TN 37347). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 27th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Sequatchie Valley Memorial Gardens (3076 Main St, Jasper, TN 37347).
