He is survived by: his wife Tommye Sipes Mitchell of Selmer, TN; his children, Mandy Caroline Mitchell Lang of Collierville, TN, Darwyn Mitchell of Germantown, TN and John William Mitchell (Lauren) of Germantown, TN; his grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth Jones (Ian), Catherine Grace Lang (Case), Andrew Mitchell and Stephen Mitchell; and his siblings, Sue Carolyn Howie (Bobby) of Selmer, TN and Douglas Mitchell (Barbara) of Selmer, TN. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
