He was predeceased by: his son Benjamin Loy (Velma Gertrude Stephens Payne); and his sisters, Ester Newton, Caroline Hurst (Gene), Marsha Lowrance (Wilbur) and Loretta Baggett.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Fay Burkeens; his children, Johnny Payne (Sherri), Teresa Hames (John) and Kathy Wilkins (Randy); and his grandchildren, Jessica, Janson, Patrick, Katie, Joseph and Kristen. He is also survived by 9 great grandchildren, extended family and friends.
